Experts

Well today I was channel flicking, and I switched onto a program called “Homes From Hell” or something. Anyway, in the space of the 2 minutes I watched of the program it was apparent that this house has a large crack running down it’s entire outer wall. So I there i was thinking something like: “Hm, yes a crack, that can’t be good”. Then, the next section of the program has a voice over introducing an expert in the field of cracks or house structure or surveying or something. The ‘expert’ stares at the crack for about 5 seconds looking scrutinising and says something along the lines of “Yes there seems to be a large crack in the outer wall”. The problem is that about 3 seconds in to the expert examining the wall I knew that they were going to state the obvious. It really makes me question the quality of programming these days if the viewer needs a so called expert to confirm what they have just been told is true.
